Hitoshi YAMAOKA

Born in 1965 at Ehime, Japan. Ph.D. A research assistant of Kyushu University. The field of study is the theory of stellar evolution, especially about supernovae. The research is held by the computer simulation about the evolution and the structure of the stars towards supernovae, the light curve of supernovae and the distance measurement, and so on. Nowadays, we are promoting the supernova　search project with multiple public observatories. On the other hand, I am attaching a great deal of importance to the astronomical educations and publicity by the article writing and lectures.

1965年愛媛県生まれ。博士(理学)。東京大学理学部天文学科卒業、同大学院理学系研究科天文学専攻中退。九州大学教養部教務員を経て、現在九州大学理学部助手。専門は恒星の進化、特に超新星の物理学。超新星に至る星の進化や、超新星爆発を起こした星の構造、超新星の光度変化などを数値シミュレーションで明らかにする研究を続けている。最近は、多数の天文台の協力で超新星を探すプロジェクトの事務局役にも手をそめている。一方で、雑誌寄稿や講演会などを通じて、天文学の普及や広報にも力を注いでいる。趣味はころころ変わるが、今は温泉めぐりとうどん打ち。
